Red Fire Farm & SNAP
Here at Red Fire Farm, we warmly welcome payment via the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). We love growing organic vegetables and we strongly believe our produce should be enjoyed by anyone and everyone!
SNAP benefits can be used to purchase produce at our Granby store and all of our farmers market booths. SNAP can also be used to purchase CSA farm shares (see more below). Not sure if you’re eligible for SNAP benefits? Find out via the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) screener here.
What is HIP?
The Healthy Incentives Program is an extension of SNAP where each month your household is allotted a monthly reimbursement for SNAP dollars used on the purchase of local fruits, vegetables, and certain edible plants when shopping at farmers markets, farm stands, mobile markets, and CSA farm share programs.
If you receive SNAP benefits in Massachusetts then you’ll automatically receive monthly HIP benefits, too! When making a SNAP purchase of fresh produce, the cost of the produce is first taken from your current balance and then promptly reimbursed as the HIP benefit back into your SNAP account to use on additional purchases. It’s like free money! Reimbursement is available up to the monthly total allotted to your household, which is $40, $60, or $80 depending on your household size.
SNAP for CSA is a great way to take part in the CSA program, and take home your monthly HIP benefit!

FAQ
Q: Can I use SNAP/HIP to pay for my shares?
A: Yes, you can! We warmly welcome SNAP/HIP customers at our retail locations and in our CSA program. We believe delicious, organic produce is for everyone to enjoy!
The 2026 signup form is now fully online via the DTA website. Please visit our SNAP/HIP information page for more info.
Q: How often do I pick up my share?
A: We offer monthly, bimonthly, and weekly summer shares. Fall, Deep Winter, and Spring shares all pick up bimonthly.
Q: Can I get add-ons with my share?
A: Absolutely! All HIP-eligible shares can be found in DTA Finder. This includes fruit shares in the summer, apple shares in the fall, and mushroom shares year-round. Unfortunately, add-ons that are not HIP-eligible are not eligible for purchase through the SNAP CSA Pilot Program. You can still purchase all other add-ons separately with a check or via PayPal.
Q: Can I get my share delivered?
A: We offer home delivery through a partnership with our friends at Family Dinner for an additional fee. The delivery fee must be paid with check or via PayPal. Home Delivery is available within the I-495 belt, excluding Plymouth.
Q: I want a share but can only pay for part of it with SNAP. How do I do that?
A: We offer partial payment plans which enable you to purchase a share with a mix of SNAP and an alternate form of payment. Please first review the share options in DTA Finder and then contact us using the link below to work out a payment plan. Also remember that all signups must be finalized by the 23rd of a given month to start pickups during the following month, so plan accordingly if you are interested in a payment plan, as they cannot be accommodated last-minute.
Q: I’m worried that my SNAP benefit might be reduced during the season. Should I still sign up for a share?
A: We encourage members to sign up for a share even if their SNAP benefit may decrease in the future. We offer SNAP partial payment plans as well as installment plans in the event that your financial situation changes. We’re committed to ensuring that you continue to have access to fresh, organic veggies!
Q: How do I cancel my share?
A: If you signed up online you can cancel your share directly on DTA Finder. If you had to sign up using a different method you should call your DTA representative to cancel. Red Fire Farm cannot process your cancellation over the phone or via email, but if you are unable to cancel with the methods above please contact us for assistance.
Q: I do not have regular access to a computer/I cannot sign up on DTA Finder. Can I still sign up for a share?
A: The DTA recently switched to an all-online signup platform which has the benefit of greatly reducing the time it takes to register SNAP CSAs. However, Red Fire Farm and the DTA both understand that this is not an accessible option for everyone. If you cannot sign up online please call your DTA representative and they will help process your signup request. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about your share, but we CANNOT process your signup directly. You should NEVER give out your EBT card number, PIN, or any other sensitive information over the phone unless you are talking to a DTA representative.
