How Pick-Your-Own Works

We offer pick-your-own to both CSA members and the general public. CSA members with vegetable shares receive FREE weekly PYO benefits as part of their shares, while all others are welcome to pick at general public pricing.

IMPORTANT: Please note that the minimum harvest for all pickers (age 4 and up) is $8. Guests are still able to pick less, but in that case must still pay $8 at time of sign in.

Upon arriving at the farm in Granby (7 Carver Street), please proceed to the PYO whiteboard station at the stand where  a map, picking containers, and the most up-to-date information on availability, picking limits, and pricing will be posted. Payment is due BEFORE picking, so don’t forget to stop by the stand before heading out into the fields.

Daily picking hours are the same as store hours, so be sure to plan ahead and dress for the outdoors.

CSA Member Picking Limits

Free pick-your-own is one of the best perks of a CSA member. There’s nothing quite like stepping out into the great outdoors and harvesting your own fresh, organic produce to build a connection with the land and local food system.

For members, these benefits are limited on a per week basis (or season basis for Eastern MA members) in order to ensure there’s enough picking to go round. Local members will be able to pick smaller amounts each week, while members traveling in from out of town will have higher picking limits:

  • If you are traveling to the farm for over an hour to pick (Boston area and Worcester members), we expect that you’ll only coming out to see us few times during the season, so you can pick more at once (once fields have filled out and limits have gone up).
  • If you are a member from Franklin, Hampshire or Hampden County, we expect that you can more easily make it to the farm each week, so you will have lower picking limits.

Picking limits for members will be updated in the “What’s Available Now” section of this page throughout the season and on the PYO whiteboard posted at the farm. For questions about PYO, please email us at thefarmers@redfirefarm.com. Also on Facebook and Instagram for more PYO updates!
