We’re looking for a reliable, hands-on Farm Mechanic to keep our equipment and systems running smoothly throughout the growing season and beyond. This role is essential to daily farm operations—helping ensure tractors, vehicles, and irrigation systems are ready when we need them most. This position can work at our Montague location mostly but also some at our Granby farm at 7 Carver St, Granby MA.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain, repair, and service farm equipment, including tractors, implements, small engines and machines, and vehicles

Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs and coordinate repairs with outside shops if needed

Prepare equipment ahead of seasonal use and ensure everything is field-ready

Inspect machinery regularly and complete required inspections on time

Install and repair irrigation systems, plumbing, and piping

Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper performance

Keep accurate records of repairs, parts purchased and used, and maintenance schedules

Maintain an organized, clean workshop

Coordinate repairs and support with farm managers and crew in the field

Transport tools and equipment for on-site repairs when necessary

What We’re Looking For

Experience with mechanical repair (farm equipment, pickup trucks, diesel engines, or similar)

Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues independently

Basic electrical and hydraulic knowledge

Organization and record-keeping skills, including some computer skills for record keeping and emails
- Bringing tools for the work

Ability to lift heavy items and operate farm equipment

Valid driver’s license

Location: 184 Meadow Road, Montague, MA and 7 Carver Street, Granby, MA
(Housing at the Granby farm is an option, and preference will be given to those that work at the farm.)
Schedule: This position can be part to full time in the main season from April through mid December. It can be combined with a tractor work role to fill out hours if desired. Winter season from December through March quieter with fewer hours – a time for cleanup and repairs and getting ready for the season.
Pay: Based on experience.
