Join us on Saturday, June 16th at the farm in Granby (rain or shine!) for our 2018 Strawberry Soirée – a celebration of the almighty strawberry during the peak of picking season!

Family friendly!

Open to the public!

Food, live music & more!

Red Fire Farm grows at least 10 varieties of strawberries, each with their own unique and delicious flavor. Stop by Granby in the afternoon to try a free tasting of our many strawberry varieties, take a Wild Edibles Walk around the farm, and pick your own organic berries (open to the public). We’ll also have strawberry shortcake and quarts of our strawberry varieties for sale to take home!

In the evening, we’ll cap the day’s activities with a potluck-style dinner and dancing and drumming with Dance Spree, (dance is $5-$10 entry) a local nonprofit organization known for their “Drum & Dance”, which is sure to have guests ready to boogie down throughout the night.

We can’t wait to see everyone out at the farm! Be sure to tell all your friends and share the official event page on Facebook! For questions about the Soirée, please email us at thefarmers@redfirefarm.com.

Schedule for the Day

10 am – 5 pm: Public Pick-Your-Own for Organic Strawberries

2 pm – 5 pm: Strawberry Varietal Tasting

Homemade Strawberry Shortcake for Sale

4pm: Wild Edibles Walk with Aidan Hawkowl, an 8 year old very knowledgeable in wild foraging.

5 pm – 7 pm: Potluck Dinner

7 pm – 11 pm: “On Strawberries & Djembes” Drum & Dance (come dance or bring drum or both) with Dance Spree ($5-$10 entry)

Potluck Dinner

Soirée guests are encouraged to bring their own supper dishes, sides, beverages, and desserts for our community potluck-style dinner. The more, the merrier! Please take care to make your dish food-safe, and make a list of ingredients for people to read. Please also plan on providing your own tableware and utensils to help reduce waste.

If you haven’t done so already, be sure to like and post in the Soirée’s official Facebook event page to let other guests know what you’re planning on bringing for dinner! Thanks!

Drum & Dance

After a delicious dinner, guests will be treated to a special “Drum & Dance”  ($5-$10 entry) entitled “On Strawberries & Djembes.” Bring your  own drum or just come dance or both! Here’s some more information provided by Dance Spree:

“Drum & Dance differs from the freestyle boogie in that instead of a DJ or even a live band, the music consists of drumming that is leaderless, spontaneous and free-flowing, exactly as is the dancing. Likewise, it differs from a drum circle in that the drummers are arranged in a wide-angle V formation, facing the room, and the intention is to engage in playful exchange with the dancers and not just with one another.”
